From the new carousel shortcode to the action hooks throughout the plugin, we’re working to make WPD better every chance we get, and version 1.9.5 is a shining example of that aspiration in action.
The most recent release of WP Dispensary is ushering in a lot of great updates for developers, as well as some added love to the Growers menu type, specifically those who are using our menu plugin to display Clones.
Clone origin and grow time information
One of our plugin users wrote a support request about finding a way to display extra information for the clones they were displaying in their menu.
After looking the request over and doing some research, it seemed like these new options were a good addition to the WP Dispensary plugin and work began on integrating clone origin and grow time.
As you can see from the screenshot, you are now able to add your data into a Clone Information metabox, there are two new input fields for you to add the genetics of your clone and the time that the clone has been grown.
This information will also be displayed on the front end of your website, in the Details table, as seen below.
8 New Action Hooks
In version 1.8 of WP Dispensary we introduced it’s first couple of action hooks and today marks the addition of 8 more.
The action hooks have been added to help allow other add-on’s integrate themselves better with WP Dispensary, as well as other developers who would like to hook into various areas of the plugin and extend it for clients.
Added in this version are two action hooks in the shortcodes, allowing you to add content to the top or bottom of each item block that gets displayed via shortcodes.
The action hook names for the shortcodes:
The other action hooks are built into the Details and Pricing tables that get displayed on each menu item’s page.
The action hook names for the tables:
All of these hooks are meant to help developers work with WP Dispensary and extend the menu even further.
We also have immediate plans on use for a few of the action hooks, extending the functionality of some of our add-on’s, so keep an eye out for those updates too!
Brand new Item Carousel shortcode
In Version 1.9.5 of WP Dispensary, we knew that the way you’re able to display menu items needed to be further enhanced.
So after doing some looking around, we found the Slick.JS carousel from Ken Wheeler and knew it would be perfect for what we’d like to accomplish (thank you Ken!)
Now, you’re able to utilize a brand new shortcode to display your menu items in a carousel, rather than the grid display from the original shortcodes.
The carousel is responsive and will adjust how many items are displayed on smaller monitors and is swipe compatible, so users will be able to easily scroll through your available items.

The full list of available options for the shortcode are as follows:
