As of today, if you’re using WP Dispensary you can now use our free add-on to check every website visitors age before they are able to browse your website.

Dispensary Age Verification for WP Dispensary

This add-on does one thing and does it very well – adds a pop up box to your website that a visitor must fill out in order to view your content.

The add-on is currently at version 1.0.1 at the time of this blog post publication, after a bug was pointed out on Twitter that we quickly patched up.

Below is an example of how the add-on looks with the CannaBiz theme.

  1. Hi there, I downloaded and activated this Plugin but I’m not seeing anyplace that I can edit the copy part of the pop-up box. Would you be able to tell me how I can change that? I need it to basically have a check box for “I’m over 21” and another checkbox for “I’m over 18 with Medical Card.”

Is that possible to change in the coding or anything? In the screenshots, it shows an editor/customizer tool, but I’m not seeing that anywhere while I’m looking at the plugins in my dashboard. Please help asap. Thank you!!

        1. Hey Jessy, Which options are you referring to?

I checked your site and it looks like the modal pop up is working and displaying your logo and custom text.

  2. Can we have a button for

Yes, I’m over the age of 18
No, Please take me away from here

as just 2 buttons than a Date of birth field?

    Thanks

      1. How soon? You mentioned next update on the previous update.

The whole manual age entering deters anyone yo even want to visit a website.

  3. Hi there,

Is the Dispensary Age Verification PlugIn SEO Friendly? Are common bots and crawlers omitted from age checks?

    Thank you

  4. It would be perfect if there was an option to keep the session for a number of days versus prompting the age verification every time you visit the website in a new tab or when you close the browser. That is the only hindrance making me consider another plugin.

  5. I noticed that the pop up appears every time I change to a different page, even though I have selected “Yes”. Can you tell me why this is happening?

    1. It is a bug with the cookie that is supposed to get saved. Working on a fix ASAP.

In the meantime, you can revert back to 1.6 with the WP Rollback plugin.

      1. I have rolled back to version 1.6 but still popup appears every time I change to a different page, even though I have selected Yes.

        Can you please assist

        1. I was able to successfully close the box on the home page, and then navigate to the “Shop” page without having another box pop up.

Currently, the plugin will re-display the pop up if the website is opened again in another tab. A new release is being worked on which will give more options for the pop up.

  6. Your plugin is not working. It was installed and activated but is not showing up to people which is a serious problem. Also, I can’t delete it from my plugins section in WordPress (keeps saying “deleting…”), can’t customize it through theme customizer (it just keeps publishing, and never ends!).

    What can I do?

    1. Hey Chris,

Sorry to hear that is happening?

Can you please submit a support ticket with the URL this is happening on?

      Thanks!
